Amy Q&A

As Homestead’s Marketing Director, Amy Kahrhoff has helped shape a creative team that thrives on collaboration, curiosity, and a genuine passion for supporting loan officers and realtor partners. With experience in both corporate and family-run environments, she immediately recognized that Homestead Financial Mortgage offered something rare: a workplace where people care about each other, work hard together, and still find time to laugh. In this Q&A, Amy shares what she loves most about leading a talented marketing team, the lessons that have shaped her career, and the ways Homestead has allowed her to grow professionally while being fully present for her family.

Q: What do you love most about your role as Homestead’s Marketing Director?
A: What I love most is the incredible creative team we’ve built here. We’ve brought together five of the most qualified, outgoing, and skilled marketing professionals, and I couldn’t be prouder of our department. Personalities really matter when you’re building a strong team, and each person brings something unique to the table. The collaboration is genuine—no matter what challenge comes our way, we pull together and find a solution.

I also value building relationships with our loan officers and realtor partners. While networking isn’t always my favorite activity, I do find it rewarding to connect with new people, especially when I know our team’s efforts can help them grow their business and reach new levels of success.

Q: What’s been the most valuable lesson you’ve learned during your time here?
A: I’ve learned to embrace change. It’s not always easy, but in work and in life, in order to grow and succeed, you need to sit in the discomfort of the unknown for a bit to get to a better place. In marketing, there’s no magic wand or “one-size-fits-all” solution. We test new lead-gen and advertising strategies, and with that comes trial and error—frustrations, pivots, more testing, and eventually success. Positive outcomes in business are rarely achieved without flexibility, and learning to adapt has been one of the most valuable lessons of my career.

Q: How would you describe the culture at Homestead, and what makes it different from other places you’ve worked?
A: I’ve worked in both buttoned-up corporate environments and smaller, family-run businesses, but the culture at Homestead is truly unique. It may sound cliché to say it feels like a family, but that’s really the best way to describe it. We genuinely care about one another and do our best to help each other succeed.
Of course, we all have good days and bad days, but what never changes is the level of support from those around you. Homestead is a place where we work hard and play hard, simply because we enjoy being around the people we work with. That balance of professionalism and fun is rare, and it’s something that sets us apart.

Q: Our mission statement is “Making lives better, one home at a time.” How has working at Homestead helped make your life better?
A: This one is easy. Homestead has given me the opportunity to not have to choose between being successful in my career and being an amazing mom. Jayson, Greg, and Andros support flexibility in the workplace, which enables us to achieve the work-life balance that everyone strives for.

With my long commute, the ability to work from home a few days a week has been life-changing. It means I can drop off and pick up my kids from school, help with homework, and be there for their games—all of which have helped ease that “working mom guilt” so many of us feel at times. Homestead has given me the freedom to thrive both professionally and personally, and for that, I’m incredibly grateful.

Q: If you could give advice to someone considering joining Homestead, what would it be?
A: I would say, ask yourself what kind of work atmosphere you think you would thrive in. Do you like to be challenged? Do you appreciate support? Can you take a joke? Homestead is a place that provides everything you need to grow professionally, while maintaining a light-hearted environment where you can enjoy coming to work.

So, my advice would be to decide if YOU think Homestead is the right fit for you. If it is, you will be welcomed into the family, supported in your role, and laughed with often—sometimes even laughed at, but always in good fun.

Amy’s experience reflects the heart of Homestead’s culture, where teamwork, flexibility, and genuine support create an environment where people can succeed both at work and at home. From guiding a talented marketing team to embracing new strategies and challenges, she continues to make a meaningful impact on the company and its partners. For those considering joining Homestead, Amy encourages taking an honest look at what kind of workplace helps you thrive. If you value growth, connection, and a few laughs along the way, Homestead may be exactly the place to build your future.
